The community of Summertown is mourning the loss of Eric Stoll, a respected business owner and dedicated family man, who died in a tragic accident on Friday morning.
According to friends and family, Stoll was out jogging when he was struck by a vehicle. The accident claimed his life just days after his family had endured another heartbreaking loss — the burial of their stillborn baby only five days earlier.
Stoll was the owner of Old South Wood Preserving, LLC, a company he had led since January 2021. Known for his servant leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication, he was admired both professionally and personally.
In a statement, Old South Wood Preserving, LLC shared:
“We are heartbroken to share that our owner, Eric Stoll, has tragically passed away in an accident. Eric was a servant leader and friend whose vision and kindness touched us all. His passion, integrity, and dedication shaped our company and inspired all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Please keep his family in your prayers as well. Arrangements will be posted at a later date.”
Friends and loved ones also expressed their grief and admiration for Stoll’s character.
Doris Krahn wrote:
“Pray for the Stoll family, Eric has gone on to his reward this morning. He was out jogging this morning and was hit by a vehicle. A young father… and they just buried a stillborn baby 5 days ago.”
Tony Sims, a longtime friend, shared:

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and local authorities are investigating the accident.
