Train Accident Wauwatosa WI, 14-year-old Student Died

14-year-old Wauwatosa student died Thursday after being struck by a train, according to Wauwatosa police.

Authorities said the teen was on his way to an event at Wauwatosa West High School and was running late. His mother, concerned about his whereabouts, used a cellphone tracking application to provide officers with his last known location.

Based on that information, officers searched the area and found the boy deceased. Police described his injuries as “consistent with having been struck by a train.”

The boy’s identity has not yet been released as the Wauwatosa Police Department and the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The Wauwatosa School District confirmed Friday morning that it had been informed of the student’s death.

“Our entire community grieves this loss. We extend our deepest sympathy, compassion, and support to the student’s family during this unimaginable time,” Superintendent Demond Means said in a statement. “Out of respect for their privacy, we will not be sharing further details, and we ask for your understanding as the family navigates their grief.”

The district has arranged grief counseling services for students, families, and staff:
